Portrait: gender

Everyone who sees this picture brings their own biases to it, and interprets the gender of this person differently based on who they are and what their experiences have been.

  1. Ya know, I never did ask what the person’s identified gender actually is. Was I right in assigning female, or is this person genderqueer, or is the entire point that this person’s gender is undetermined?

  2. it’s specifically drawn so that everyone brings their own preconceptions and prejudices to it. The person in the portrait doesn’t exist. It’s a piece that is explicitly about how gender works through people gendering others. So there is no right answer.
